Golly, Camphor Essential Oils What Can I Do With It?

In 1964 “Gomer Pyle, USMC,” was one of the most popular shows on television. Jim Neighbors played the dolt Gomer Pyle. In the episode entitled “Sergeant of the Week,” which premiered on 12/25/1964, Gomer gets a cold and uses Camphor to relieve the symptoms. I had a lady tell me when one of her children would catch cold, the first thing she would reach for was Camphor Oil.

Camphor therapeutic grade essential oil has a strong, penetrating, fragrant odor. It was used as a remedy against the plague in Persia (now Iran) and was also used in embalming. Camphor wood was excellent for shipbuilding by the Chinese because of the woods durable and aromatic properties.

The trees growing this pale yellow thin oil are indigenous to China and Japan and must be at least 50 years old to produce oil. The Cinnamomum camphora tree can grow up to 100 feet and live for a thousand years. It is a multi-branched evergreen, which has white flowers and produces a fruit of red berries like cinnamon.

Some of the therapeutic properties of Camphor oil include: anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, cardiac, carminative, diuretic, febrifuge, insecticide, laxative, rubefacient, stimulant and vulnerary. Camphor oil can be used in the treatment of nervous depression, acne, inflammation, arthritis, muscular aches and pains, sprains, rheumatism, bronchitis, coughs, colds, fever, flu and infectious diseases. It is a well-known preventive of moths and other insects.

Another good use for Camphor is its help relieving the pain of arthritis in a bath. Run a hot bath and add 3 drops of Camphor oil just before getting in to the bath tub and soak 15-20 minutes.

To make a Spirit of Camphor for bruises, sprains, muscle spasms, aches and pain because of its antispasmodic quality. Use 3 drops for 1 oz. Pure grain alcohol and store in a spray bottle and spray on affected area up to 6 times daily.

This Spirit of Camphor can also be used as a Tincture for minor skin wounds and tissue regeneration. Add Rose Water and Lavender to the Spirit of Camphor in a glass for storage. Shake well before using. To use apply 15-20 drops on a cotton ball, dabbing gently and use four times a day until would heals.

1oz. of olive oil, 2 one inch cubes of bees wax, 2-5 drops of camphor and 3 drops peppermint essential oils. Warm olive in sauce pan and add wax, stirring gently until wax is fully melted. Remove from heat and add peppermint and camphor. Pour balm into a glass container, don’t cover until cool and then rub on chest to relieve congestion. Mixture will store for one year.

Please Note: Camphor oil is a powerful oil and should be used with care and should not be ingested. Overdosing can cause convulsions and vomiting. Pregnant women or persons suffering from epilepsy, high blood pressure and asthma should not use it.

Busting The Swine Flu

Swine Flu has been elevated to a new level with the declaration of a National Emergency by President Obama. Vaccines are being rushed to healthcare professionals all over the country. These vaccines do not immunize they are only drugs that cause many side effects. According to Dr. Len Horowitz, “The H1N1 swine flu shot is more of a drug than a vaccine given the list of toxic chemical ingredients causing side effects including Guillain-Barre syndrome, a deadly paralyzing disorder widespread after the 1976 swine flu vaccination campaign."

Dr. Patricia Doyle in her April 26th blog from Global Research said, “I was one of the people duped into taking a Swine Flu shot and it made me so sick. I was sick in bed for three months after taking the vaccine.” Doctor Doyle continued, “An Influenza vaccine does not protect or prevent a person from contracting flu. It is purported to, maybe, prevent some complications of flu and maybe shorten duration. I am not even sure it does that. Personally, I feel the vaccine weakens our immune system and also sickens us due to contaminants in the vaccine.”

There is a rising cacophony of voices dissenting the merits of this vaccine. Knowing this what can be done to protect our families from the encroaching pandemic. Bust the Swine Flu with a combination of therapeutic grade essential oils which are an all natural remedy.

Flu Buster is a blend of Clove Bud, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus and Rosemary. This blend is commonly called Thieves® in the market place and can be a bit pricy. This mixture of Essential Oils has been proven to fight viruses and bacteria related sicknesses. Our mixture “Flu-buster” busts the germs and arrests there effects.

Each of these oils have properties that can keep viruses and bacteria from invading and overwhelming the immune system. Clinical studies from Weber State University have shown essentials oils to be 99.96% effective against airborne bacteria. It also proved that viruses, fungi and bacteria can not live in the presence of essential oils.

The history of this blend finds its roots in the Middle ages when Bubonic Plague ran rampant through Europe killing tens of thousands of people. A band of robbers ransacked the homes of dead or dying citizens. They covered themselves in essential oils and herbs. After being apprehended, their death sentences were commuted for the secret to their survival. The information found its way to the king of England and it is rumored the formula these band of crooks used is recorded in the Royal English Archive.

Essential oils can be used topically on the skin or inhaled. It is recommended a skin test be used before applying to the skin. Use just a bit on the skin to test for any type of reaction. Discontinue use if there is a reaction. Dilute the essential with a carrier oil and reapply testing for reaction. A solution can be mixed with either a carrier oil (ie. Olive Oil), distilled water or Pure Grain Alcohol at a recommended 10% dilution: 1 drop of essential per 10 drops of carrier oil.

Please do not use essential oils if you are pregnant. Consult a physician familiar with the use of essential oils before considering taking internally.

Spikenard Puts Insomnia to Bed

The other night I fell asleep like I normally do and about ten minutes later the phone rang and that's all it took to make me one of the 64 million other Americans staring at the ceiling. Frustrated with my tossing and turning, my wife suggested I go to her website http://www.healwithoil.com/ and find what essential oil is good for insomnia.

I found Spikenard essential oil helps promote sleep. So I broke out the Spikenard and tapped out a couple of drops into my hand and rubbed some on the bottom of my feet and before long I was cutting some serious Zzzz's. As I drifted off to sleep, the thought occurred to me, "How many others have this problem, but don't know about this wonderful natural sleep aid?"

I never had a problem getting to sleep before and never gave much thought to the problem of Insomnia. I knew to avoid caffeinated drinks late in the day, so I made it a rule not to drink any after 4:00. After doing a little research on the topic, I find out that's only part of the problem. Fear, stress and anxiety are big contributors to those not able to get a good nights sleep. With today's economy I'm sure the number is increasing.

Insomnia is defined by the experts as: the inability to get to or stay asleep and the result of the lack of quality or quantity of sleep. Which makes for a not-so-good next day. Most sleeplessness occurs in the early part of the night. Sleeplessness which occurs later in the night or just before normal time of waking up, could be caused by depression.

According to Lexicon-Biology.com; Melatonin is a molecule manufactured by a gland of the brain that functions as a hormone. It influences the sleep-wake cycle by acting according to the day-night alternation. Children rarely have problems with insomnia because their bodies produce a sufficient amount of this hormone to keep them asleep. Now us older folkour bodies do not produce the same levels of melatonin as when we were younger. It just happens that Spikenard essential helps with that problem.

Spikenard oil, is pale yellow in color with a medium viscosity and has an earthy warm aroma. It is an aromatic herb with rhizome root which is ground into a powder and then steam distilled to extract the precious oil. The technical name for Spikenard is Nardostachys jatamansi and is of the Valerianaceae botanical family. Originally from the Himalayan Mountains of India it expanded into China and Japan. Incense traders traversed thousands of miles through the holy land, Egypt and far into the Roman Empire. If you need more information on the history of Spikenard, visit our website http://www.healwithoil.com/.

One of the main reasons for Spikenard's popularity is its high concentration of Sesquiterpenes. Oils that are high in Sesquiterpenes work down at the sub-cellular level, which affects the membrane fluidity and allows oxygen transfer. It also can access the DNA in the cell which can erase information in the memory of the cell. This is an important step to setting the stage for reprogramming the cell's DNA to its original intent.

So when that insomnia keeps you up let Spikenard put it to bed. Becca has a lot more information about all the essential oils mentioned in the Scripture on her website: http://www.healwithoil.com/. To purchase Spikenard Essential Oil visit our website http://HealWithEssentialOil.com.

Essential Oils That Protect You From The Swine Flu and other Viruses

Modern science has proven that many of the essential oils mentioned in the Bible contain immune-stimulating and antimicrobial compounds that can be beneficial to man. And, because of their complex chemistry in which God created them, this makes it very difficult for viruses and bacteria to mutate and acquire resistance to them. Many have been proven to be more effective than even antibiotics.

Interestingly, even Tamiflu – the now infamous prescribed medication for treating the H5N1 Bird Flu, is made from the extract of Chinese Star of Anise (eight horns). Shikimic acid is extracted from the pods (which wraps the seeds) of the star anise and is the starting material of Tamiflu (Roche Laboratories), an antiviral drug. This particular drug is being offered to patients for the Swine Flu, however, is not effective since this virus has mutated so quickly. In addition to being highly contagious, by the time scientists have formulated a vaccine to treat one strain of this virus; it could have morphed into a hybrid. Unfortunately, this major problem stems from drug companies producing antibiotics in such mass quantities (all bearing the same resemblance), that bacteria and viruses have built up a resistance and mutated into superbugs.

Fortunately, God has provided us with an answer essential oils. Essentials oils are extracted from the leaves, stems and seeds of aromatic plants, and are in fact, the essence or life-blood of the plant. Each essential oil is unique like a fine wine, and will vary depending on the climate, soil, sunlight and water in which they are grown. Think about this: one essential oil can have anywhere from 200 to 800 chemical constituents. If a virus or bacteria mutates or becomes resistant to one component, another constituent jumps in and stops the bug's progression. That old saying still holds true, "You can't fool mother nature!"

Essential oils have been effective in combating superbugs and stopping plagues for millenniums. In biblical times, the Lord told Moses to stop the plague that had broken out by taking fire and placing it upon the incense containing aromatics and to quickly run through the camp. During the 15th century, a band of thieves robbed jewels off of dead bodies that had died from the bubonic plague. Even while the disease was highly contagious none of the robbers grew sick or died, because they protected themselves by wearing essential oils.

In this complex high-tech pandemic, it would do us a world of good to step back and reread God's original prescription for mankind. Ezekiel 47:12, says God gave us "the leaf thereof for medicine" and in Revelation 22:2 it reads, "and the leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nations."

Here are some easy ways for you to use essential oils to protect yourself and your family from the Swine Flu (H1N1).

1. Everyone knows washing your hands is the first line of defense to staying healthy; however, antibacterial soaps which we all use will not be effective against viruses. By adding essential oils that are rich in monoterpenes with anti-viral constituents such as cypress or hyssop to your liquid non-scented soap, you can help stop the spread of this pandemic. Victorie, Inc., an online aromatherapy business based in Washington suggests adding 50 – 60 drops of essential oil (or a blend of oils) per 8 oz. of liquid soap. Be sure and check the essential oil's safety precautions for skin sensitivity before using.

2. Diffusing essential oils is another important step in reducing airborne pathogens and the spread of flu. Add 5-10 drops of an essential oil such as cinnamon or cassia to pan of water on the stovetop or add to a diffuser. If you have a cool mist vaporizer, you may want to add a few drops of essential oils. Diffuse twice a day for 15-20 minutes to purify the air.

3. If you have a pocket size diffuser for inhalation, add 1-2 drops of an essential oil of your favorite fragrance such as Rose of Sharon or Myrrh. For those who don't have a diffuser, you can add a couple of drops of essential oil on a tissue or a face mask to inhale. Fragrances you may want to include: Cassia, Cinnamon, Hyssop, Cypress, Frankincense, Myrrh, Tea Tree and Galbanum.

4. For disinfecting, purchase an empty 8 oz. spray bottle (plastic will work, but over time may erode due to the oil) and add 60 drops of an essential oil such as Lemon or Tea Tree and/or an essential oil blend. Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled water. Again, check the safety rating for your oils in my book, "Heal with Oil."

5. If you have multiple empty spray bottles, you may want to create a "linen spray" by adding several drops of your favorite essential oil such as Cedarwood, Lavender, or Spikenard to distilled water and spritz your bed linens and pillow for a good night's sleep.

6. As a mouthwash, add a drop of cassia, clove, myrrh, and/or lemon to water and gargle. If you feel a chill or feverish, do this immediately.

7. To strengthen the immunity system, apply 1-3 drops of Frankincense essential oil to each foot at bedtime.

Here is a list of essential oils that are known for their antiviral properties:

Cinnamon Bark
Clove
Eucalyptus
Galbanum
Hyssop

Pandemic Level 6 - Now What? How to protect your family from Swine Flu

What many dreaded has finally happened. The WHO (World Health Organization) on Thursday declared we are now in a worldwide pandemic, with the swine flu alert raised to phase six, the highest level. They also stated that the H1N1 virus has spread to enough countries with it considered "unstoppable." Not that it is considered more deadly or dangerous, but certainly serious with almost 30,000 cases reported worldwide.

The United States isn't out of the woods yet, with reports that the number of deaths will be higher on Friday's update on the Center for Disease Control's website. The declaration of phase six certainly has been expected for weeks since many of the cases reported from the Southern Hemisphere where the flu season is under way, is showing itself something to be reckoned with. The WHO's urgency for raising the alert level to six is so that production of a vaccine can be available by September before the flu season starts in the North.

For those who do not want to wait for the vaccine or prefer not to take it, can protect their family with a natural alternative, such as essential oils. Essential oils are a powerful weapon against viral pathogens invading our bodies and are proven to take on all viral and bacterial germs.

Essential oils such as Camphor, Cinnamon Bark, Clove Bud, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon and Rosemary oils are a must-have for any First Aid Kit because of the wide range of problems these oils can treat. For example, Camphor essential oil has for decades been known as an excellent weapon in fighting coughs, colds, flu and fever. It is also an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

Cinnamon is revered for its antiseptic properties and its pleasant spicy scent. It is best known for the treatment of stomach ailments (gas, diarrhea, upset). This oil has the ability to combat viral and infectious diseases. Research has been unable to find a virus, bacteria, or fungus that can live in the presence of Cinnamon.

Got a toothache? Clove Bud Essential Oil makes a great choice. It relieves dental pain, tooth aches, mouth ulcers, and sore gums. Clove helps to neutralize bad breath. It is frequently added to tooth pastes and mouth washes. Not only is it a good for dental pain Clove Bud can help relieve minor aches and pains. It is also antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral, and has stimulating properties. It has also been found to help with other health problems like indigestion, coughs, asthma, headache, stress and blood impurities.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil is native to Australia and is a welcomed addition to every medicine cabinet for its ability to fight colds, flu and fever. It is also effective for skin ailments like burns, blisters, wounds, insect bites, lice and skin infections.

Herbalist regards Lavender Essential Oil as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes and its ability to accelerate healing of burns. It is also good as an analgesic, antiseptic, antidepressant, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic. This thin, strong scented oil has a calming effect on the body and helps to reduce stress, anxiety and promote sleep.

Lemon has been historically recognized as a cleanser. It is recognized as being antiseptic, and as having refreshing and cooling properties. Research has also shown lemon essential oil to enhance the ability to concentrate. Lemon also is highly prized for its high anti-bacterial properties. On skin and hair it can be used for its cleansing effect, as well as for treating cuts and boils.

Rosemary a popular herb for cooking has medicinal purposes in Therapeutic Essential Oil form. It has the ability to stimulate cell renewal, stimulate hair growth, boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems and reduce pain.

Clove Bud, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, Lemon and Rosemary can be blended to make the very popular Thieves formula to combat any type of viral or bacterial infection, protecting you and your family from the swine flu.
