Essential Oils Put the Bite On Insects

How many times have you been out enjoying a warm summer evening only to have a squadron of mosquito’s ruin it with endless strafing runs? Hand to hand combat only gives temporary relief and barely slows them down. Maybe chemical warfare might do the trick, with the nasty smelling bug sprays. Or some biological warfare with cages full of lizards and frogs. I don’t think the ladies would appreciate that very much. There’s got to be a better way to win the Bug Wars.

With the increase of insects carrying viruses like West Nile Virus, it has become necessary to protect ourselves from bug bites. Chemicals like DEET have been added to insect repellants to ward off the pesky night rangers. But isn’t very healthy. In recent years many people have been searching for a natural remedies to fight off insects.

It has been known for centuries using cedar is an excellent way to protect valuables from bugs. Cedar wood in essential oil form can also help to ward off bugs and insects. Cedarwood essential oil was part of the Holy Anointing Oil mentioned in the Bible. It helped in keeping flies and insects out of the Temple in Jerusalem when sacrifices were being made.

Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils are even more powerful when blended with other oils. This is called a synergy blend. Cedarwood used for an insect repellant is best blended with cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint and rosemary. With this combination you have a potent weapon to beat the bugs.

Bug spray doesn’t have to be nasty; as a matter of fact it can be enjoyable. When making your blend, it is not always necessary to use all the oils. You can mix and match and find a suitable combination that will appeal to you.

After finding the right mixture, you’ll want to mix it in a carrier oil or dilute it with distilled water. This will preserve your skin from the stronger oils. Sesame, almond and coconut oil is a good choice, however you might want to make sure it is a massage oil because they are specifically for skin usage. Sesame oil also can act as a natural sunscreen.

Essential Oils are a wonderful tool God has given us to keep us healthy. However, these oils should be used with care and should not be taken internally unless under a licensed medical doctor with knowledge in aromatherapy. Pregnant women should not use these oils. Please check the safety ratings for each of the oils you are considering using. Always use 100% pure oils from reputable sources.

Rebecca Park Totilo has an excellent book on the subject entitled, “Heal With Oil, How to use the Biblical Essential Oils.” This book is an excellent book for those who are new to the use of essential oils. Busting The Swine Flu

Swine Flu has been elevated to a new level with the declaration of a National Emergency by President Obama. Vaccines are being rushed to healthcare professionals all over the country. These vaccines do not immunize they are only drugs that cause many side effects. According to Dr. Len Horowitz, “The H1N1 swine flu shot is more of a drug than a vaccine given the list of toxic chemical ingredients causing side effects including Guillain-Barre syndrome, a deadly paralyzing disorder widespread after the 1976 swine flu vaccination campaign."

Dr. Patricia Doyle in her April 26th blog from Global Research said, “I was one of the people duped into taking a Swine Flu shot and it made me so sick. I was sick in bed for three months after taking the vaccine.” Doctor Doyle continued, “An Influenza vaccine does not protect or prevent a person from contracting flu. It is purported to, maybe, prevent some complications of flu and maybe shorten duration. I am not even sure it does that. Personally, I feel the vaccine weakens our immune system and also sickens us due to contaminants in the vaccine.”

There is a rising cacophony of voices dissenting the merits of this vaccine. Knowing this what can be done to protect our families from the encroaching pandemic. Bust the Swine Flu with a combination of therapeutic grade essential oils which are an all natural remedy.

Flu Buster is a blend of Clove Bud, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus and Rosemary. This blend is commonly called Thieves® in the market place and can be a bit pricy. This mixture of Essential Oils has been proven to fight viruses and bacteria related sicknesses. Our mixture “Flu-buster” busts the germs and arrests there effects.

Each of these oils have properties that can keep viruses and bacteria from invading and overwhelming the immune system. Clinical studies from Weber State University have shown essentials oils to be 99.96% effective against airborne bacteria. It also proved that viruses, fungi and bacteria can not live in the presence of essential oils.

The history of this blend finds its roots in the Middle ages when Bubonic Plague ran rampant through Europe killing tens of thousands of people. A band of robbers ransacked the homes of dead or dying citizens. They covered themselves in essential oils and herbs. After being apprehended, their death sentences were commuted for the secret to their survival. The information found its way to the king of England and it is rumored the formula these band of crooks used is recorded in the Royal English Archive.

Essential oils can be used topically on the skin or inhaled. It is recommended a skin test be used before applying to the skin. Use just a bit on the skin to test for any type of reaction. Discontinue use if there is a reaction. Dilute the essential with a carrier oil and reapply testing for reaction. A solution can be mixed with either a carrier oil (ie. Olive Oil), distilled water or Pure Grain Alcohol at a recommended 10% dilution: 1 drop of essential per 10 drops of carrier oil.

Please do not use essential oils if you are pregnant. Consult a physician familiar with the use of essential oils before considering taking internally.

Essential Oils That Protect You From The Swine Flu and other Viruses

Modern science has proven that many of the essential oils mentioned in the Bible contain immune-stimulating and antimicrobial compounds that can be beneficial to man. And, because of their complex chemistry in which God created them, this makes it very difficult for viruses and bacteria to mutate and acquire resistance to them. Many have been proven to be more effective than even antibiotics.

Interestingly, even Tamiflu – the now infamous prescribed medication for treating the H5N1 Bird Flu, is made from the extract of Chinese Star of Anise (eight horns). Shikimic acid is extracted from the pods (which wraps the seeds) of the star anise and is the starting material of Tamiflu (Roche Laboratories), an antiviral drug. This particular drug is being offered to patients for the Swine Flu, however, is not effective since this virus has mutated so quickly. In addition to being highly contagious, by the time scientists have formulated a vaccine to treat one strain of this virus; it could have morphed into a hybrid. Unfortunately, this major problem stems from drug companies producing antibiotics in such mass quantities (all bearing the same resemblance), that bacteria and viruses have built up a resistance and mutated into superbugs.

Fortunately, God has provided us with an answer essential oils. Essentials oils are extracted from the leaves, stems and seeds of aromatic plants, and are in fact, the essence or life-blood of the plant. Each essential oil is unique like a fine wine, and will vary depending on the climate, soil, sunlight and water in which they are grown. Think about this: one essential oil can have anywhere from 200 to 800 chemical constituents. If a virus or bacteria mutates or becomes resistant to one component, another constituent jumps in and stops the bug's progression. That old saying still holds true, "You can't fool mother nature!"

Essential oils have been effective in combating superbugs and stopping plagues for millenniums. In biblical times, the Lord told Moses to stop the plague that had broken out by taking fire and placing it upon the incense containing aromatics and to quickly run through the camp. During the 15th century, a band of thieves robbed jewels off of dead bodies that had died from the bubonic plague. Even while the disease was highly contagious none of the robbers grew sick or died, because they protected themselves by wearing essential oils.

In this complex high-tech pandemic, it would do us a world of good to step back and reread God's original prescription for mankind. Ezekiel 47:12, says God gave us "the leaf thereof for medicine" and in Revelation 22:2 it reads, "and the leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nations."

Here are some easy ways for you to use essential oils to protect yourself and your family from the Swine Flu (H1N1).

1. Everyone knows washing your hands is the first line of defense to staying healthy; however, antibacterial soaps which we all use will not be effective against viruses. By adding essential oils that are rich in monoterpenes with anti-viral constituents such as cypress or hyssop to your liquid non-scented soap, you can help stop the spread of this pandemic. Victorie, Inc., an online aromatherapy business based in Washington suggests adding 50 – 60 drops of essential oil (or a blend of oils) per 8 oz. of liquid soap. Be sure and check the essential oil's safety precautions for skin sensitivity before using.

2. Diffusing essential oils is another important step in reducing airborne pathogens and the spread of flu. Add 5-10 drops of an essential oil such as cinnamon or cassia to pan of water on the stovetop or add to a diffuser. If you have a cool mist vaporizer, you may want to add a few drops of essential oils. Diffuse twice a day for 15-20 minutes to purify the air.

3. If you have a pocket size diffuser for inhalation, add 1-2 drops of an essential oil of your favorite fragrance such as Rose of Sharon or Myrrh. For those who don't have a diffuser, you can add a couple of drops of essential oil on a tissue or a face mask to inhale. Fragrances you may want to include: Cassia, Cinnamon, Hyssop, Cypress, Frankincense, Myrrh, Tea Tree and Galbanum.

4. For disinfecting, purchase an empty 8 oz. spray bottle (plastic will work, but over time may erode due to the oil) and add 60 drops of an essential oil such as Lemon or Tea Tree and/or an essential oil blend. Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled water. Again, check the safety rating for your oils in my book, "Heal with Oil."

5. If you have multiple empty spray bottles, you may want to create a "linen spray" by adding several drops of your favorite essential oil such as Cedarwood, Lavender, or Spikenard to distilled water and spritz your bed linens and pillow for a good night's sleep.

6. As a mouthwash, add a drop of cassia, clove, myrrh, and/or lemon to water and gargle. If you feel a chill or feverish, do this immediately.

7. To strengthen the immunity system, apply 1-3 drops of Frankincense essential oil to each foot at bedtime.

Here is a list of essential oils that are known for their antiviral properties:
